Gloriosa

Gloriosa is a wonderful climbing plant, which grows two to three meters during the season.
It catches on a rest not with its stem or tendrils but long ends of its leaves. The flowers
are exotic and can last in a vase for up to two weeks. Gloriosa is a pride in any collection.
Its tumbers are delicate and fragile. They are poisonous therefore one has to be very careful
when working with them. It is also important not to damage their growing point not to kill
the plant. It takes time for the plant to come up. Some sprout very quickly while some – in three to four weeks. Gloriosa produces many daughter tumbers, so it is moved with great care to a bigger pot once during a season. The plant requires good lighting, in fact, direct sunlight, high humidity and frequent watering. Fertilisers are applied at least once a week. After the above-ground part of the plant dies tumbers are removed from the ground with great care and are stored in a dry and dark place, at the temperature of no lower than 18 degrees. They are planted again in February or March. |
